I came to this conclusion by the time I finished reading the above paragraph of my Social Psychology textbook.
We humans are often, more than not, so prone to errors and lapses.. even in rationalising ours and other people’s behaviors. Like I learnt in the concept of fundamental attribution error, we usually attribute a person’s behavior either to their disposition or by the situational factors. It is said that people(mainly referring to Westerners but can be applied to others also) often do the former to other people. Then when it comes to ourselves, we defend ourselves attributing our behavior to the situation.
… And so is man, regardless of how intelligent and strong he perceives his human capacity.
May we seek knowledge for the right intentions and gain knowledge that benefits us and the people around us!
